Beans with onions are familiar to me from the spaghetti westerns of the 80s, in which Bud Spencer – together with Terence Hill – prepared and ate this seemingly simple dish with great relish.

So I tried to recreate this delicacy in the pan, and I can honestly tell you that it immediately became my favorite dish! Make it yourself! It really is insanely easy to make and very tasty!
Ingredients:
200 g smoked bacon
3 medium onions
4-5 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp tomato purée
250 g red kidney beans
250 g white kidney beans
salt & pepper, cumin, chili
Steps:
Melt the sliced bacon and fry until crispy.
Add the sliced onions and chopped garlic and fry for 4-5 minutes.
Add the drained tinned beans and tomato puree. Season with salt, pepper, cumin and chili to taste. Pour in a cup of water and cook over a low heat for 20 minutes.
